I had a phenomenal experience with OTRA over the last few weeks. I had minimal experience riding a motorcycle so I opted to take a couple private lessons in conjunction with the BRC to gain some confidence and knowledge. My coach, Shawn, was incredibly knowledgeable and taught in a manner that quickly developed my understanding of the techniques necessary to ride safely. More importantly, Shawn was patient, encouraging, and provided a comfortable learning environment that eased any anxiety I had throughout my entire experience. I would absolutely recommend taking a private lesson if you’re looking to increase your skills and comfort and I will certainly be going back for some lessons myself.

First off, this course is a 10/10. The instructors Layla, Shawn, and Mike were absolutely fantastic. Their teaching style broke each section into manageable parts to make sure everyone understood how to operate safely, while keeping things fun. Their dedication to safety is truly commendable. As someone who had never touched a motorcycle before, I can confidently say that I learned the essential skills needed to operate one safely. Overall, this course was a blast to take!

I have never ridden a real motorcycle and as I’m approaching retirement I’m looking for a new hobby, so I took the MSF Basic Rider course on the grounds of Suffolk CCC. It was an outstanding experience and I learned a huge amount. I now actually understand how to ride a motorcycle, though I’ll need lots of practice before I’m ready to hit the public roads. The instructors, Jessie, Mike and Jerry were all excellent. They were patient, detailed, humorous and non judgmental. I was far from perfect during the training and made some errors on the final test, but I made it through thanks to the instructors, and now I can avoid taking the DMV road test. Great experience, should be a requirement for all new riders!

I recently took the basic rider course for my motorcycle license. I hadn’t ridden in years, so I figured—why not take a course to refresh my skills and learn the proper techniques for safe riding. I have been riding for a few years now self taught. I decided to get proper guidance and I took the beginner course. The coaches Peter and Shawn took us from the most basic functions to learning safety skills, proper maneuvering, and covering how to handle emergencies.
